Wasn't expecting to see Spotted Crake in the Camargue during February. Apparently some birds arrive early or may even over-winter in the area. This was a nice find by David Jenkins while we were searching for Greater Spotted Eagle. The crake was feeding on a puddle between a lake and the roadside. It showed very close (possibly too close) and fed constantly - the head moving up and down all the time made digiscoping rather difficult. It wasn't easy for four people to photograph it all at once in a confined space, hence the vegetation in front.
