It's a funny old world. Saturday lunchtime. I'd
just got home from twitching the Grafham Ring-necked Duck. Opened
the car door and heard some trilling. Ah, says I, that'll be a
Greenfinch then. But it continued. Jumped out quickly and there, in the
top of the sycamore trees just outside my house, were 23 Waxwings! They'd obviously exhausted
the berry supply (their preferred food) of Peterborough, because they
were gobbling up the trees' blossom. Perhaps they need the sugar rush...
