| Scarce Chaser | Libellula fulva Houghton Mill, Cambridgeshire. 20.06.2004. Original blog post. Though the dull light meant that the insects were easy to approach (and conveniently perching in vegetation just off the path), we could have done with a little bit more brightness for photographic purposes. Always a tricky balance. This photo was taken with flash, which made the nettle leaves bleach out a bit, but you can see all the super-fine details like the tiny hairs on the thorax, the hooks on the legs and the veins on the wings.
